The first concert of Chargan was held with great enthusiasm and the presence of numerous music enthusiasts on the November 5th, 6th, 2011 at the Master Jalil Shahnaz Hall in Tehran’s Artists’ House. Chargan presented its performance in two distinct parts.The first part consisted of pieces in the Bayat-e Esfahan mode, including “Bahar” (Pishdaramad) by Asghar Bahari, arranged by Hamed Afshari, “Avaz” (Daramad), “Saba” (Chaharmezrab) by Abolhasan Saba, “Kamaneha” (Bayat-e Raje), “Naghme” (Zarbi-e Kereshmeh), “Qejakan” (Busalik and Forud), and “Monsieur” (Reng) by Hayk nomiyan. The arrangement of these pieces resembled the typical repertoire of classical Iranian music. The composition and arrangement of these pieces were done by Ehsan Zabihifar.

The second part included independent pieces not necessarily related to each other. Various composers had contributed individual pieces for the performance, including:

“Parting” (by Saeed Honarmand), “Agitation” (by Hamed Afshari), “Barefoot in Paradise” (by Ali Samadpour), “Futile Experience” (by Iman Vaziri), “The Bank” (by Saeed Honarmand), and finally, “Zarbi-e Afshari” (by Ardshir Kamkar), in which Hamid Ghanbari, as a guest percussionist, accompanied the ensemble.
