Chargan’s Albums 1 and 2 to be released

Due to many difficulties in releasing serious and artistic music in Iran, after four years since the studio recordings of Chargan’s dual albums, they are now ready for release. Soon, in an unveiling event, Chargan’s Albums 1 and 2 will be introduced and released as two CDs in the music market.

In these two albums, Ehsan Zabihifar plays the (Kamancheh 1), Keykhosro Mokhtari (Kamancheh 2), Shima Shahmohammadi (Alto Qejak), and Hamed Afshari (Bariton Qejak). Bita Ghasemi also plays (Bariton Qejak) in one piece, and Hamid Ghanbari plays (Tonbak) in one piece.

The composers of the two albums include Saeed Honarmand, Hamed Afshari, Ali Samadpour, Sharif Lotfi, Iman Vaziri, Ardeshir Kamkar, Ali Asghar Bahari, Ehsan Zabihifar, Abolhasan Saba, and Hayk Nomiyan.

The first CD consists of independent pieces by different composers, while the second CD follows the usual structure of Iranian classical music, with pieces like Pishdaramad, Chaharmezrab, Zarbi, Reng, and others. In the selection and arrangement of the pieces, works by past kamancheh players have been adapted for the string quartet, or new compositions based on the melodies of the Radif of Iranian music have been composed.
